“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”
― J. Krishnamurti

Exercise: Is this a part of your daily life?

Exercise at least 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes a day. One of the most underrated forms of exercise is walking. It is aerobic low impact and free. It can be intense or relaxing as your fitness levels will dictate. Not only will it increase oxygen levels, and reduce stress, but it is one of the best ways to get your lymphatic system moving.

Nutrition: Is your diet adding to your vitality or creating a deficit?

Focus on Whole Organic Foods. Eat a variety of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. The brighter the colors the better they are for you. Green, Purple, Red, Yellow etc. Leafy greens should be a daily focal point of ingestion. Take a full spectrum vitamin/mineral superfood supplement to fill in any gaps. Stay hydrated and drink up to ½ oz water per pound of body weight. Find a personal guide to help you put together a targeted supplement program for extra support if needed.

Rest: Are you getting enough?

Set aside time during the day to relax and recharge. Put down your phone and get away from the computer. Even if it’s just for a few minutes during the day it can make a big difference. The best quality sleep happens before midnight, also taking a short nap during the day is recommended if your lifestyle allows.

Nature: Are you getting outside enough?

There isn’t a better alternative for overall balance of your system. Time should be made daily to reconnect with nature. It is cheating to have your earbuds in, or to be on your phone during this time, technology interferes with receiving the full benefit of this discipline. Being in nature should include being with your own thoughts.

Emotional Balance: Are you feeling ok?

Ultimately being emotionally stable is a choice. What do you tend to put most of your focus on? Is it joy, love, gratitude, peace, and laughter, or rather drama, conflict, strife, victim consciousness, and lack. Feelings and emotions should be expressed, recognized, and allowed to pass.

Community: Are you giving and receiving support in your life?

We are all dependent on one another for our very existence. Giving and getting love and support from family, friends, or support group is essential to good health and longevity.

Spirituality: Do you have a relationship with a Higher Power?

When we are connected to a higher power we can let go and allow for a feeling of balance and wholeness to occupy our life. Being aware that there are larger forces at work in our lives, and that there is a divine purpose for our existence allows for a special kind of transcendent freedom.

Taking personal responsibility for our actions is the most powerful step in creating a healthy body, mind, and soul. One cannot just be a passive participant in life allowing for others, or culture at large, to dictate what one consumes physically, mentally, or spiritually. Every positive choice we make ends up shaping our present lives, as well as building our futures. The power of choice is yours.
